Atomic bomb survivors Toshiko Tanaka and Shigeko Sasamori share their firsthand experience of the bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, and discuss the subsequent trajectories of their lives. “Hibakusha” is the Japanese word for atomic bomb survivors, who, in their advancing age, have a very limited opportunity to share their accounts. Hibakusha Stories is brought to Tulsa in part thanks to an initiative by Youth Arts New York.
The mission of Hibakusha Stories, a U.N.-affiliated NGO, is to pass the legacy of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to a new generation of high school and university students to empower them with tools to build a world free of nuclear weapons.
