Written and directed by Tara Moses
With original text by José Zorrilla
In many countries around the world during Día de Muertos, the Spanish romantic-phantasmagoric-religious drama Don Juan Tenorio by Jose Zorrilla is performed. Don Juan tells the story of the arrogant and frivolous Don Juan, whose only interest in life is seducing women – with or without their consent. Set in modern day, this new play changes the narrative to reflect agency, accountability, and the dangers of machismo culture – with classic sword-fighting and ballroom dancing as a fun added touch.
*The show contains simulated violence, strong language, gun shots, sexual innuendos and may not be suitable for some audiences.*
